"Authenticity isn't found in quiet minimalism or tired souvenirs; it is loud, communal, and vibrant. The goal was to capture the optimistic clutter of the Indian highway and translate it into a visual language that disrupts the polite landscape of the global retail shelf."

SAMAST1

Samast required a strategic visual identity and packaging system that re-imagined how authentic Indian ready-to-eat meals are positioned for the global diaspora. The project demanded a departure from dated, exoticized tropes, focusing instead on a research-driven approach to capture everyday Indian vibrancy in a way that international shoppers could instantly decode.

The visual direction centered on the tension between cultural exuberance and structural clarity. The system utilizes a high-contrast palette—celebration pink, saffron yellow, and midnight purple—anchored by a custom display typeface inspired by the vernacular signage of Old Delhi. This identity scales across monocarton packaging, a custom functional icon suite, and digital touchpoints, balancing expressive illustration with clean, utilitarian information architecture.
